Nar is a doctoral (PhD) student from Nepal at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in the United Kingdom under the UCA’s prestigious Vice Chancellor Studentship. Prior to this, he completed his master’s degree in Conflict Peace and Development Studies from Tribhuvan University in Nepal.
His PhD research explores the interconnectedness of local cultural art – focused on Déudã (a type of performing art-form in Nepal) and its use in fostering dialogue for peace in the post-conflict backdrop applying an artistic research approach. This will be an attempt to study whether/how this kind of art-form could be adopted as a peacebuilding means. Additionally, the research will propose an approach and examine the ways indigenous cultures can be integrated into policymaking and government.
The desire to reconnect with the past and prosper after insurgencies requires working with existing (traditional) knowledge in communities. And, he has been part of the MAP and Changing the Story projects in Nepal in the past as well. He works as assistant research and manager to the project.
