The MAP project team in Nepal is celebrating the MAP International Conference with implementing partners, young people (youth clubs, YAB and YAAR – Youth Advisory Advocacy Research), cultural artists and organisations, policymakers and government stakeholders in a one-day event in Kathmandu. In this event, the MAP project team will share outputs from MAP activities in Nepal including MAP Phase 1, the Inter-generational Dialogue project, Dēudā project, Picturing Past, Present and Future project, and Large Grant’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL). The programme includes an exhibition of art-based outputs, policy briefs, a video screening, Image Theatre by YAAR, and outputs sharing. In Nepal, Mithila paintings are one of the local art forms explored in the MAP ‘Picturing Past, Present and Future (PPPF)’. Mithila art is a traditional art form from the ancient Mithila kingdom of Nepal. Historically, it has been used to depict religious rituals, nature and agricultural scenes, but increasingly, it is being used to convey contemporary issues, such as raising awareness of gender equality.
